In an about 2002 – I noticed that I started losing hair when combing my hair.
In 2003 it got worse – but only in the centre of my head/scalp – I actually developed a patch. My hairdresser advised me to go see a dermatologist in Rosebank – which I did. The dermatologist started sending me for various blood test to establish my condition. I had thyroid and other series of tests done – eventually I was told that I had signs of alopecia. The dermatologist then started giving me cortisone injections on my scalp – various pills, Nioxin , hair shampoos etc. Every year from 2002 until 2006, my medical aid funds would be exhausted with no results at all.
By 2006 I told my dermatologist that I'm giving up because it's costing me a fortune and my kids can't even use the medical aid because my funds are depleted all the time. My dermatologist then suggested one last alternative. She referred me to a gastro-enterologist at Milpark hospital – who also started a new set of tests on me – The gastro-enterologist then diagnosed me with helicobacter – which is a stomach disease that he said was causing my hair loss. I had to start a new course of antibiotics – which now included cortisone tablets and so many other tablets. At this stage I was taking about 8 tablets per day. I just couldn't take any more tablets – it was just too much for my body. In late 2007 I decided to shave off all my hair and call it quits.
In 2007 my sister saw the article in the Cosmopolitan magazine about Dr. Alexander's Hair Loss Clinic – I wasn't going to call and go for an appointment. I was convinced it was another money making scam. My sister took it upon herself to call and make an appointment for me.
I went for my 1 st appointment in April 2008 and the rest is history! For about 1% of what I've spend in the last 5 years – I can see visible results for the 1 st time in less than 12 months and the results are visible to all my friends, family and colleagues because they all know what I went through.
I'm actually growing my hair back now because it is so good and healthy.
Thanks Dr.Alexander.
